College for Life Sciences

The College for Life Sciences is a unique program of the Wissenschaftskolleg to promote excellent early-career postdoctoral researchers in the life sciences and medicine.

Iso Lomso Fellowships

In 2017, the Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study (STIAS) established with the Iso Lomso Fellowship Programme a support programme especially for young African academics from all disciplines.

VUIAS

The Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin, in close cooperation with partner institutes from Ukraine, Europe, and the United States, has launched an initiative to support Ukrainian scholars in their effort to found a Ukraine Institute for Advanced Study (UIAS) in Kyiv. Full-scale institutional activities in Ukraine will only be possible once the war is over, but a preliminary virtual institution, VUIAS, will begin operations in September 2023.

Elkana Fellowships

The goal of this program is to promote free scientific exchange in areas that have increasingly come under pressure from political or social currents in recent years.

Prussian Maritime Trade Foundation

In the context of an independent research project on the history of Prussia the Foundation funds a five-month short-term fellowship at the Wissenschaftskolleg.

Riksbankens Jubileumsfond Advanced Studies Programme

The Riksbankens Jubileumsfond Advanced Studies Programme aims at strengthening Swedish research in the humanities and social sciences through international collaboration.

Mortier Next Generation Fellowship

In memory of Gerard Mortier, the innovative opera director who died in 2014, a European promotion prize for young talents was created. It will be awarded to young talents that engage in musical theater as a modern art form.

John Maynard Smith Prize

Each year, this prize is awarded to an outstanding young researcher in the field of evolutionary biology.

Anna Krüger Foundation

The Anna Krüger Foundation awards "an Anna Krüger Prize of the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin to a researcher who has written an outstanding work in good and understandable scholarly language".

Blankensee-Colloquia

The Blankensee-Colloquia are international workshops, each on an innovative issue from the humanities or social sciences. Under the thematic umbrella “Cultural and Social Change”, the focus is on researching the processes of societal and cultural change of our time. Welcome are combinations of various disciplinary and methodological approaches and a comparative perspective from which such processes of change can be viewed, also in the light of faraway and culturally unfamiliar experiences.

Constructive Advanced Thinking (CAT)

Together with 26 other institutes from NetIAS and beyond, the Wissenschaftskolleg runs the Constructive Advanced Thinking program.
