Tickets

• purchase: Ticket machines on the S-Bahn platform or the ticket office of Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) in the terminal or BVG app
• ticket airport → Wissenschaftskolleg: „single ticket“ area ABC costs €4.70
• a ticket for travelling from the main train stations „single ticket“ area AB costs €3.80
• validate tickets at the ticket machine on the platform before starting your journey!

Options

Option 1: Airportexpress – S-Bahn – Bus

• S-Bahn station Flughafen BER is in the basement of the airport
• FEX (direction S+U Lichtenberg) take stop Ostkreuz
• Change: Ostkreuz to S41 (Ringbahn travelling clockwise), take stop Halensee
• Change: Halensee to bus M19 (direction S-Grunewald, bus stop on the opposite side of the street) to Erdener Straße.
• from the Erdener Straße bus stop, walk back approx. 100 metres to the Wissenschaftskolleg at Wallotstr. 19

Journey takes approx. one hour

Option 2: Airportexpress/Regionaltrains – S-Bahn – Bus

Train station Flughafen BER → Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin

• S-Bahn station Flughafen BER in the basement of the airport
• FEX (direction S+U Lichtenberg) from BER airport, take stop Schöneweide
• Change: Schöneweide to S46 (Direction to S-Westend), take stop Halensee
• Change: Halensee to bus M19 (direction S-Grunewald, bus stop on the opposite side of the street) to Erdener Straße.
• From the Erdener Straße bus stop, walk back approx. 100 metres to the Wissenschaftskolleg at Wallotstr. 19. 

Journey takes approx. one hour

Option 3: S-Bahn – S-Bahn – Bus

• S-Bahn station Flughafen BER in the basement of the airport
• S 9 (direction Spandau Bhf) from BER airport, take stop Ostkreuz
• Change: Ostkreuz onto S41 (Ringbahn travelling clockwise), take stop Halensee
• Change: Halensee to bus M19 (direction S-Grunewald, bus stop on the opposite side of the street) to Erdener Straße.
• From the Erdener Straße bus stop, walk back approx. 100 metres to the Wissenschaftskolleg at Wallotstr. 19.
• Journey takes longer than with FEX or regional trains

Option 4: Taxi

• Journey takes approx. 30 minutes
• costs: approx. 70 euros

Berlin Main Station (Berlin Hauptbahnhof) → Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin

The suburban trains and buses run every 10 - 15 minutes. 

You will need approx. 30 minutes for the entire route.

• S7 (direction Potsdam Hbf) from platform 16 to S-Grunewald

• Change: S-Grunewald to bus M19 (direction U-Mehringdamm) to Erdener Straße.
• From the Erdener Straße bus stop, walk approx. 100 metres (in the direction of travel) to the Wissenschaftskolleg at Wallotstr. 19.
• alternatively: 15 minute walk from S-Grunewald (from the train station turn left into Trabener Straße, after 1 km turn right into Erdener Straße to Wallotstraße)

The taxi journey from Berlin Central Station costs about 30 euros and takes about 20 minutes.

Südkreuz Train Station → Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin

The suburban trains and buses run every 10 minutes. 
You will need approx. 20 minutes for the entire route.

• S41 (Ringbahn travelling clockwise) to S-Halensee
• Change: Halensee to bus M19 (direction S-Grunewald, bus stop on the opposite side of the street) to Erdener Straße
• From the Erdener Straße bus stop, walk back approx. 100 metres to the Wissenschaftskolleg at Wallotstr. 19.
• alternatively: 15 minute walk from S-Halensee (turn left from the train station, walk down Kurfürstendamm, turn left at the Esso Gas station on Königsallee, then walk to Wallotstraße)

The taxi journey from Berlin Südkreuz costs about 25 euros and takes about 16 minutes. 

• Berliner Ring (A 100) in the direction of Berlin city centre, exit Berlin-Wilmersdorf
• then take the Kurfürstendamm exit
• follow Halenseestraße, turn right at the first set of traffic lights, then turn right again at the next set of traffic lights into Koenigsallee
• after 400 metres turn right into Wallotstraße.
