Maritime Asia Re/Defined: (Im)mobility, (Dis)connection, and (De)centralisation
11.–12. Juni 2026
By focusing on conjunctions and disjunctions, the workshop aims to critically re-imagine the analytical confines of maritime Asia and the forces which connect and disconnect people, ideas and things across time and space. Instead of viewing the sea merely as the site or condition of mobility and exchange, workshop participants will address how maritime worlds have been imagined, governed, resisted, produced, and transformed. Topics may address processes of circulation and connection as well as interruptions, exclusion, regulation, constraint, and human encounters with maritime environments.
