Work has undergone various mutations in recent decades, and the ways these transformations manifest themselves are numerous and multidimensional. The transnational research network Working Futures aims at analyzing these transformations at the intersection of four processes that shape and reshape the contemporary field of work: siliconization, financialization, ecologization, and democratization.

The Working Futures network thereby develops a process-driven approach that also aims to address the epistemological challenges that the study of these processes poses for the historical and social sciences.

Launched in 2018 by the Wissenschaftskolleg and the International Research Center Work and Human Life Cycle in Global History (re:work), the Working Futures network creates a space for mutual exchange and communication on the futures of work among scholars from different disciplines and countries.
