Cinema or Freedom

I have been against censorship for about twenty years. I always insisted on living in my own country so that I could make films related to the conditions of the Iranian people. After many summonses and interrogations, participating in court, court orders, and going to prison, I finally got an eight-year prison sentence and had to leave Iran illegally. Now that I had to leave my country, I ask myself: can I still make my favorite films? Is cinema more important or freedom? In this book, I will discuss my experience working in cinema under severe political censorship and the things that made me leave Iran.
