Post-doctoral fellows, junior lecturers/assistant professors, and early-career principal investigators from all fields in the life sciences may apply.
If you have been a principal investigator for longer than five years, you are advised to apply for a regular Fellowship at the Wissenschaftskolleg.
Each specific career situation will be individually reviewed. If you are uncertain about your status and whether you qualify for a Fellowship, please contact us at ulrike.pannasch(at)wiko-berlin.de.
Please apply for Fellowships for 2018/19 until January 7th 2018 here: https://cfls-application.wiko-berlin.de/
The College for Life Sciences issues calls for applications at the end of each year. Please register here to receive the call for 2019/20.
A complete application includes:
- a project proposal (max 1000 words)
- a letter of motivation (max 500 words)
- a list of 5 selected publications
Please refer to the application section for further information.
Applications are reviewed by the scientific committee composed of internationally recognized life scientists. The names and affiliations of the current members of the selection committee can be found here here. Applications are judged on the quality and significance of the proposed project and the applicant’s record of achievement and promise.
On-campus studio accommodation and excellent library and IT services. Daily meals and relocation assistance, travel costs, help with immigration documents, and registration with local authorities.
Your main obligation is to participate in weekly colloquia held each Tuesday and involving all Fellows of the Wissenschaftskolleg. You are also required to attend daily lunches and a common weekly dinner served each Thursday.
At the end of your Fellowship, you are expected to produce a short text describing your research and experience at the College for publication in a yearbook.
You may exceptionally apply as a pair or a small group (up to 3) with a common research project. Please clearly explain the reasons for a joint application. A team is admitted only if all its individual members are favorably evaluated by the selection committee.
Successful candidates can invite academic guests and collaborators for short stays (from a couple of days to a week), provided that the Wissenschaftskolleg has guestrooms available at that particular time. The College will fund these stays and the travel expenses of your designated guests. Such visits may be scheduled before or during your residency and must be arranged with the program coordinator.
